iPhone Firmware 2.2 Released

Apple has just released iPhone Firmware 2.2 via iTunes.

Here are the changes that the update has:

  • New look for the Safari
  • Auto-correction toggle
  • 461 Japanese emoji icons
  • Support for new languages
  • The Line-in audio is activated and can be used through the headphone jack.
  • New features of Maps application:
    • Google Street View
    • Google Transit information - Routes public transport
    • Walking directions
    • Location sharing.
  • New features of the App Store:
    • The sector 'Categories' now shows the icons of the applications instead of the list.
    • All of the application pages has the button 'Tell A Friend' & 'Report A Problem'.
    • Added the possibility of scoring the application when the user chooses to delete from the device.
    • Added the possibility for direct downloading of podcasts from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store.
Note: There are no drastic changes, and no unlock for this yet. I recommend staying on Firmware 2.1. Specially for iPhone 3G users.
